Scott ton sets Alnwick up for league victory
A century from Andrew Scott helped Alnwick 1sts to a big 173-run victory over Bates Cottages in the Northumberland and Tyyneside Senior League at the weekend.
Scott hit 112, including 17 boundaries, whuilst max harrison weighed in with 63 as they posted a very respectable 207-5 in their 50 overs.
In reply, the home side failed to make any impression with the bat being all out for only 34 in less than 18 overs.
Gareth Bateman took a very respectable 6-21 whilst Ben Trefall claimed 4-12.
Alnwick 2nds went down by 106 runs when they faced Bates Cottages 2nds in the reverse fixture.
Gary Dennis hit 67 not out and opener Robbie Elliott 60 as bates put on 205-6 in 45 overs.
Ryan Kelly claimed 3-35 for Alnwick with the ball, but with the bat they failed to make a big impression, G Shiel top scoring on 32 and Kyle Hollingworth on 21 as they replied with 99, Aaron Patrick claiming 5-23.
Alnmouth and Lesbury 1sts had a six wicket win on the road when they travelled to take on Seaton Burn.
The home side literally collapsed, all out for only 45, with opener M Ali their top scorer on nine.
Edward Brunton took 4-11 with two wickets apiece for Ben Oliver and Nicholas Denton.
It was an easy target for the Alnmouth batsmen, and with Paul Starke hitting 22 they passed the markin the 18th over.
Alnmouth and Lesbury 2nds faced Shotley Bridge at home, when they went down by 101 runs.
Stefan Dabrowski hit an unbeaten 94 and Jack Rowley 59 as the home side rattled off 190 all out.
Brian Brooks was the pick of the Alnmouth bowlers with figures of 5-39, but in their innings they failed to get anywhere near their target.
Richard Neil hit 34, , but there were only two others in double figures, and the tail crumbled as they found themselves all out for 89 in less than 23 overs.
Philip Mellons had a good spell with the ball, claiming 5-5 for Shotley.
