Alnwick’s Barndale House School donated £350 to help improve the experiences of people receiving chemotherapy treatment for cancer in the town.

The school carried out a range of fund-raising activities, including washing staff cars, holding cake stalls and collecting donations in lieu of Christmas cards, for the oncology day unit at Alnwick Infirmary.

Mandy Dobson, from the school, said: “We choose a local charity every year and as we know lots of families who’ve used this service we wanted to support it.

“It makes such a difference to people to be able to have treatment on their doorstep rather than having to travel out of the area.”
