Scheme is all ready for launch at Kirkley Hall

A new initiative to recognise and promote the quality of Northumberland's food and drink industry is being launched later this month.

The Produced in Northumberland verification scheme allows producers, retailers, hospitality businesses and serviced accommodation providers the opportunity to promote themselves as a local food advocate.

It will highlight those businesses producing, using and selling local food and drink. The strong branding, based on the already established Independent Spirit brand, will differentiate Northumberland produce on shelves and menus across the county and beyond.

The scheme is a collaboration between the Public Health Protection Service at Northumberland County Council and Active Northumberland, supported by Northumberland Tourism.

Benefits of joining include a searchable website listing on the Produced in Northumberland website and exclusive use of the Produced in Northumberland logo and branding.

The scheme is being launched at Kirkley Hall on Friday, February 26.
