SCAM: Beware of phone calls

I recently had an Indian person on the phone, asking me '˜to renew my subscription' to the telephone preference service.

She had my name nearly right, my address nearly right, my phone number and post code right.

She then started to ask for my credit card details, such as what sort of card and expiry date, whereupon I told her to go away (politely), and put the phone down.

The call came from a withheld number.

I have checked with BT and this is not how it does business and it never uses withheld numbers.

This is obviously a scam and to be honest she wasn’t very convincing.

I do feel that people should be made aware that this is going on.
