Santa warms up for Christmas at Kielder

TICKETS are now on sale for one of the most popular Christmas events in the county.

Northumbrian Water is advising punters ‘act fast’ to secure entry to Kielder’s Winter Wonderland.

The event has been a sell-out for the last seven years and the message from organisers is ‘book now to ensure you don’t miss out’.

This year, ticket prices have been reduced for the event’s opening weekend, Saturday, November 19, and Sunday, November 20.

Woodland lodges are also available for those wanting to make an extra-special weekend of it.

The North East’s premier Christmas experience sees Leaplish Waterside Park, on the shore of Kielder Water, transformed into a Winter Wonderland full of surprises and attractions for the whole family.

Throughout the day-long experience, more than 15,000 visitors will meet woodland elves to guide them through the forest to take part in outdoor Christmas theatre shows as well as discovering some of Santa’s friends along the way to seeing the main man himself.

Northumbrian Water leisure manager, Kevin Hudson, said: “Kielder Winter Wonderland is such a popular event so the message is to pre-book as tickets are not available to purchase onsite.

“We’ve been listening to customer feedback and this year we’ve slightly reduced the price and have special cheaper tickets on the opening weekend. We get fantastic feedback every year. It’s a magical weekend for visitors and staff alike. Its popularity gives extended employment during the winter months.”

Highlights of the event include Santa’s secret hideaway, elves’ workshops, Kielder Water Birds of Prey Centre, Mrs Christmas, snow tubing, skating and Christmas theatre.

Kevin added: “Families wishing to have that extended Christmas experience can stay for the weekend and cosy up in one of the four or five-star Scandinavian style lodges.”

Kielder Winter Wonderland runs every weekend from mid-November until Sunday, December 18, plus Monday, December 19, Tuesday 20, and Wednesday 21.
