Sandy argues the case for the planet

AUTHOR and activist Sandy Irvine will be arguing for the impossibility of endless growth on a finite planet at a talk in Alnwick next week.

He will be speaking as part of the Alnwick Area Friends of the Earth’s Growth Delusion series at St James’ Church Center, Pottergate, on Thursday, March 1, at 7.30pm.

Sandy is the author of the Green Manifesto and Beyond Green Consumerism.

He said: “There seems to be increased interest in alternatives to the inequality, waste and destruction inherent in today’s society. I’ll be talking about how we can set effective limits.”

David Farrar, co-ordinator of Alnwick Area Friends of the Earth, said “It doesn’t look like we’re getting economic growth for months anyway - it’s a good time to consider how we might manage the economy without either throwing people out of work or making the planet uninhabitable.”

All talks are open to members and non-members alike. Entry is a donation.
