TICKETS for one of Northumberland’s premier tourist destinations are now being sold from Tourist Information Centres (TICs).

Admission tickets to Bamburgh Castle are now on sale at the 11 TICs across the county, with a special 10 per cent discount.

The scheme is a partnership initiative between the castle and Northumberland County Council, aimed at helping to provide an improved service to visitors, while boosting visitor numbers to the castle and surrounding area.

Stacey Burlet, the council’s head of customer and cultural services, said: “Bamburgh Castle is one of the top 10 visitor attractions in Northumberland, drawing in the region of 150,000 visitors a year and bringing jobs and money into the local economy.

“This is the first time we have taken part in a partnership of this kind and we hope that it is a service we can extend to other visitor attractions in the near future.”
