Play park reopens after repair work

Rothbury’s Riverside play park has reopened following repair works in time for half-term this week.

The work, carried out by Northumberland County Council, was done as a temporary measure while councillors look for a new suitable location away from the flood-plain. Councillers agreed to set aside £20,000 for a new one.

Councillors ban member contacting them

Rothbury’s councillors have banned a member of the public from contacting councillors under the vexatious complaints procedure. This is actioned by the council when someone repeatedly complains about

the same issue despite replying to the complaint.

Funding boost for youth project

Rothbury Parish Council is giving a ‘vital’ injection of cash to a Rothbury youth service.

Coucillors authorised £3,300 to Rothbury and Coquetdale Youth Project, which will keep the service running for another three months.

Handyman for Rothbury

Rothbury looks set to follow Alnwick Town Council by employing a full-time handyman for the area.

Coun Steven Bridgett said it was important for the village. They could have powers to issue parking tickets.

Councillor makes fourth declaration

A Rothbury parish councillor has now made her fourth declaration since becoming a councillor in 2013.

Coun Helen Walklett was reported to the police when her second declaration was misplaced by error at Northumberland County Council.

Her new declaration is for her role with the neighbourhood plan.
