Rothbury home has taken steps following breach

Rothbury House – run by The Royal Air Force Association – provides welfare breaks for people who serve or have served with the RAF, and gives personal care for up to nine people.

A Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspection in 2015 rated the service as good overall, but found one breach of regulations.

This related to the service’s application of the Mental Capacity Act (2005); in particular the need to ensure proper reviews of people’s capacity prior to them staying at the home, that the provider’s policy reflected MCA issues and staff were sufficiently trained.

Following a recent review, CQC inspectors found that the provider had updated its MCA policy and staff had completed specific training.

The report states that ‘the provider had made some progress in meeting this breach of regulations and staff had an understanding of MCA requirements.’
