Rothbury bungalow bid given go-ahead

The scheme, for Eltham at Back Crofts, was given the nod at Tuesday’s meeting of Northumberland County Council’s strategic planning committee.

The plans had sparked four objections relating to the narrow access lane not being suitable for construction traffic.

Rothbury Parish Council had not objected, but also raised concerns about the construction traffic.

The planning officer explained that these worries were to be tackled via a management plan, while the applicant, Martyn White, told the meeting that he was using a local builders, whose yard is at the end of the lane.

“I feel very passionately about this project, the property’s been in my family for generations,” he added.
