BLACKMORE’S of Alnwick are stocking up on jars and putting one in each of their 13 rooms and on the bar after joining the Jam Jar Army.
Manager Nicola Hickey said: “It’s a good idea and it’s something a bit different as well.”
She also said that raising money for a local charity is important.
“People are more conscious of the money they have got in their pockets so it’s better to keep it local. Local is key at the moment.”
Elsewhere, Sharon Williams, the owner of The Waiting Rooms in Warkworth, had been meaning to get involved with the Jam Jar Army but last week’s article inspired her to join the recruits.
“I had heard about the campaign but seeing this (last week’s) article spurred me on,” she said.
“There’s a waiting list to get in the hospice because it’s so underfunded.
“It’s a fantastic idea.”
Sharon also tried to spread the word about the Jam Jar Army and in the last week, Woody’s and Atmosphere in Alnwick have also signed up.
