Roddam WI held its monthly meeting in the Cheviot Centre, Wooler. President Mrs J Laycock welcomed members and a guest.
Minutes of the previous meeting were read, agreed and signed.
A letter of thanks was received from the Children’s Countryside Day, along with copies of some of the feedback from the children who had attended. The whole day was a huge success.
The president thanked members for their efforts serving teas at Glendale Festival, and for the help given at the Federation Quiz in Wooler.
Mrs P McCathie reported on a very enjoyable afternoon with Belford WI and the president handed out glazed pottery which had been made at the previous meeting. Everyone was rather pleased with their efforts.
Invitations had been received from Glanton to its 80th birthday party and to crazy bowls and afternoon tea with Doddington WI.
County notices were given and the president encouraged budding photographers to send in photographs for the 2017 calendar, the subject being ‘Down by the Riverside’.
Mrs A Hindmarsh asked if Roddam WI might sponsor a banner on September 9 for the Tour of Britain, which will pass through Wooler. The parish council would be grateful for help to make flags or bunting and decorate bicycles.
The president introduced the speaker for the evening, Elizabeth Davidson, accompanied by her sister.
She produced five wonderful flower arrangements, which she generously donated to the raffle. A very warm vote of thanks was given by Mrs McCathie.

Supper and the raffle brought a very enjoyable evening to a close.
