Roadworks on trunk roads in Northumberland and North Tyneside this week
Highways England is planning the following roadworks on the A1 and A19 this week, from today.
A1 Morpeth, Northumberland: There will be work taking place until spring 2017 for the construction of a bypass. There will be various phases of daytime and night-time lane and carriageway closures, with narrow lanes and a 40mph speed restriction in place. There will also be a 24-hour lane closure in place north and southbound until the project is completed.
A1 Ellingham to Belshill, Northumberland: There will be various phases of temporary traffic lights for investigation work. This will take place until late July between 8pm and 6am.
A1 Brownieside, Northumberland: There will be a lane closure southbound for survey work. This will take place from today (Monday, July 4) until Friday, July 8, between 8.30am and 4pm.
A19 Killingworth to Moor Farm, North Tyneside: There will be a southbound carriageway closure for resurfacing work, taking place until Monday, July 11. All closures will take place between 8pm and 6am with a diversion in place.

A1 Junction 67 (Coal House) to Junction 71 (Metrocentre): Roadworks on the A1 Western Bypass at Gateshead have been removed. Finishing work on the project will continue to carry out landscaping and electrical works.
A1 Junction 51 Leeming Bar to Junction 56 Barton: There will be phases of overnight lane closures and full carriageway closures while work takes place to upgrade the road to motorway standards. There will also be narrow lanes and a 50mph speed restriction 24 hours a day, and a lane closure on the junction 51 roundabout between 9am and 4pm until summer 2016. On Friday (July 8) and Saturday (July 9), the northbound carriageway will be closed between junction 50 and Scotch Corner, and southbound between Scotch Corner and junction 51. Both these closures will take place between 8pm and 6am, with diversions in place. The project is due to be completed by summer 2017.A1M Junction 60 to 61, County Durham: There will be a contraflow in place north and southbound every night between 8pm and 6am with a daytime 50mph speed restriction and hard shoulder running for structural maintenance. This will take place until late August.
A66 Hartforth to Scotch Corner, North Yorkshire: There will be a contraflow in place for resurfacing work, with drivers travelling in both directions on the same carriageway. This project is due for completion at the end of July.
