ROADWORKS: A job very well done

A few weeks before Christmas I wrote to the newspaper complaining about what I thought was a shoddy job of road re-surfacing in Alnwick, from the War Memorial down towards the Allerburn Lea estate entrance.

Well since Christmas there has been some more re-surfacing work done.

This time is has been within the Allerburn Lea estate itself.

All I can say is the difference is like chalk and cheese.

Considering the size of machinery involved, such as lorries, road rollers and the biggest of all, the road planer machine, and other varied equipment, I was amazed at the military-like planning it must have taken to roll out such an amount of varied tasks.

Considering the road width restrictions within the estate, and about five cul-de-sacs to contend with, I thought they did a marvellous job.

The workman were always courteous, considering they had to contend with estate traffic while carrying out the job. I take my hat off to them.

Well done, and well done Northumberland County Council.
