There is no alternative route for vehicular traffic, but access will be maintained for local residents.

The closure has been requested by Northumberland County Council in order to carry out carriageway and footway resurfacing works.

Inquiries should be made to Northumberland County Council’s contact centre on 0345 600 6400.

Elsewhere in the town, gasworks are ongoing on Bondgate Within and Narrowgate, which have led to the closure of the latter to traffic.
