Seahouses RNLI is holding two volunteer recruitment days this weekend.
They will give people the chance to find out what it takes to be part of the team.
New operational volunteers will help crew and launch the lifeboats, support the lifeboat station shop and other fund-raising activities.
Recruits must be aged 17 to 65; live or work in Seahouses, Beadnell or Bamburgh; physically fit; and not colour blind.
The RNLI’s Ben Mitchell said: “Only 10 per cent of our new recruits come with professional maritime experience; our current lifeboat crew has a retired teacher, a builder, a hairdresser, a mechanic and an IT consultant. We hope to attract men and women from different backgrounds to join the crew.”
The open days take place on Saturday, at Seahouses Lifeboat Station, from 10am to 2pm, and on Sunday, at the Beadnell Sailing Regatta, at Beadnell Bay, from noon. More details, call Ben on 07770 536518.
