Lifeboat crews were called out to assist a yacht off the Northumberland coast last night.
UK Coastguard requested the launch of Amble’s all-weather and inshore lifeboats at 9pm after receiving a report of a 21ft yacht aground just outside the estuary at Alnmouth with no power.
Both boats launched by 9.10pm and were on scene within 10 minutes. The inshore lifeboat arrived first on scene and established what had happened and what the plan would be to get the vessel back to amble.
The all-weather lifeboat decided to head back to Amble until 10.30pm when the tide had risen enough to tow the vessel back to Amble.
The inshore lifeboat towing the yacht clear of the swell and handing it over to the all-weather lifeboat which towed it back to Amble Marina and into the hands of Amble Coastguards who secured the vessel to the pontoon.
