Spirit Buses is about to start its second year of service this weekend with a major revision of its timetable.
Owner Steve Hurst started the services in Septenber last year without any subsidy or other financial support.
The first year’s services were based around an extensive pre-launch questionnaire, but some of the routes have just not been profitable enough to retain.
Therefore the services to Wallington and Elsdon are discontinued along with the late-night and Sunday services, at least for now.
The Alnwick service now terminates at Cawledge Business Park and no longer goes to Alnmouth Station, which is currently served by the Arriva X18 and X20.
The new Route 15 and 16 timetable starts on Monday with the new Enviro 200 bus providing a more modern and comfortable service that will be much welcomed through the coming winter.
Services and times are essentially the same as before with some minor modifications such as the 16 will now carry on from Holystone via Swindon and Hepple.
