REVIEW: The Walking Dead, The Well

While most viewers may hate this episode as they, like m,e are desperate to get back to Rick's group in the aftermath of Negan's wrath, The Well for me was great just for the introduction of yet another brilliant comic book character.

The man in question is King Ezekiel (whom I love), alongside his pet tiger Shiva. Don't let that sentence put you off though, as he is by far one of the most interesting and fascinating characters you will meet on the show, and his king persona is hilarious purely due to his speech when acting this way.

My particular favourite was 'your words leave me pitchkettled'. I'm pleased also they are adapting Shiva from the comic also, and she doesn't look overly fake, but obviously due to budget is not used in many scenes. However, it is brilliant to have her in the show.

The Well primarily focused on establishing these characters and new location The Kingdom, also focusing on Carol and Morgan's relationship a bit more.

Although I know lots are against him, I really like Morgan, especially seeing how his ideals mix with others, so any episode with him is always a win.

Whereas in Carol's case I'm starting to waver. What was once a pretty solid character was reduced to a weird mess in the last few episodes of season 6, and now her actual goals as of season 7 are unclear. One thing I do hope is that this subplot clears up and doesn't take over the main plot of Negan and Rick.

It is also very good to see the intertwining of the four main groups now, with us now fully aware of the Saviors, Negan's people, but said group also interacting with the Kingdom. It is subtly establishing the unity of Alexandria, the Hilltop and the Kingdom against Negan, as nobody really likes him much!

The Well was a nice calming influence compared to last week, although the slight change in tone was weird and a strange narrative choice. However, it did introduce one of my favourite characters from the comics and I'm excited to see more of him as I think he was seriously underused in said comics.
