REVIEW: The Walking Dead season 7 premiere: The Day Will Come When You Won't Be

The most heart-breaking episode ever.

After a quite frustrating cliff hanger all the way back to the start of this year, all that was resolved in the best episode The Walking Dead has ever delivered.

We are shown who Negan killed and, with restraint on spoilers as it's been such a big secret, 'just say you won't be disappointed.

The whole feel of this episode was disheartening and exactly what the show should feel like. The emotions were strong in who died, and it's the chance for us as an audience to see Rick truly powerless for the first time in six seasons.

Speaking of that, Andrew Lincoln deserves a huge award for playing Rick. This is the best acting he has ever done, and the power of it was unbelievable.

That said, Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Negan is once again absolutely fantastic. After seeing just a small glimpse at him last season, I'll admit part of me was unsure of how good he would be, but this episode shows just how much he can fit the evil twisted mind of the character.

Him and Andrew Lincoln stole the episode, regardless that it primarily focused on them in the first place.

The whole thing was brutal, right from the get go. The Walking Dead has become a changed show, and I know some people won't like that. For me, as a reader of the comics also, this change is what was needed, and foreshadows what will undoubtedly be dark times ahead for our remaining survivors.

I look forward to next week, and the rest of the season, very much.
