“It’s a real credit to them all that they’ve successfully completed what is a challenging and intensive initial training programme, and we’re looking forward to them becoming part of their local station establishments to continue their professional development and work with their colleagues to protect their communities.

“Being a retained firefighter is a rewarding role and they do an amazing job responding to emergency calls, delivering community safety and supporting their communities.

“We are actively looking to increase our on-call numbers across Northumberland; it is a role that is open to absolutely anyone who can pass the entrance standards and we provide support to applicants to help them through the application and selection process.”
