Residents seek change in boundary

A PARISH boundary between two north Northumberland villages is to be reviewed.

Local residents have asked Northumberland County Council to look at the existing boundary between Craster and Embleton with a view to moving the settlement of Dunstan Steads from Craster parish to Embleton parish.

They feel that their community and communication links are with Embleton village, which is closer to them than Craster.

The county council has the power to conduct community governance reviews which can involve creating new, or amalgamating parishes and amending electoral arrangements.

It has agreed to carry out a review and is now consulting local electors and other stakeholders in the area about the proposals.

A report will be sent to the council in May advising of the outcome and, if an order is made, then the changes will come into force for the next ordinary elections of the parish council in May 2013.

If you would like to make your views known, they should be submitted, in writing, by March 2 to Lesley Bennett, Team Leader (Governance/People), Democratic Services, Northumberland County Council, County Hall, Morpeth, Northumberland, NE61 2EF. Or email
