Facebook users have jumped to the defence of Amble’s Remembrance Sunday commemoration, after it was criticised by an Army veteran.

Last week, we reported a complaint from an ex-serviceman, who branded the tribute a disgrace because the PA system did not work properly.

But after the story was published on our Facebook page, numerous people spoke in support of the service.

Kathleen Eldred posted: ‘We found it very moving, in spite of the failing PA system’, while Harry Chrisp wrote: ‘It was a wonderful service. The PA system was irrelevant to the spirit of the day.’

Al Jacques added: ‘It’s sad that the PA was faulty, but not a disgrace.’
