Relic adorned the Farriers

This farrier's hoop-making implement was installed at Shilbottle's Farrier's pub in July, 1966.

A relic of the days when farriers used to make iron hoops for carts it was thought to be one of the two in existence in the country.

Pictured above with the implement is Jim Morris, from the pub. No one took much notice of the relic until a stranger called in and showed an interest in it and wanted it for the Bowes Museum.
