An evening of celebration was held to mark the 40th year of The Samaritans of Northumbria.
A total of 45 dedicated volunteers gathered at the event at Newbiggin Sports Club last Saturday.
Famous agony aunt Denise Robertson MBE attended to wish the helpers well.
Samaritans who were part of the original team which delivered the service across Northumberland were present, along with current branch members and relatives to celebrate the milestone.
It was the first time in many years that the majority of branch volunteers were present at one event, which was supported by regional Samaritan officials.
Branch director Sue Towers said she was proud of all of those Samaritan volunteers who give their time and effort to support those in need.
