RECYCLING: Pactical difficulties

I was interested to read the letter regarding plastic recycling, (Northumberland Gazette, January 25).

As I understand it, there are practical and economic difficulties in recycling items of the types listed by your earlier correspondent.

This does not mean, of course, that the county council disposes of such items in a way which is environmentally damaging.

On the contrary, it is my understanding that all, or nearly all, of the non-recyclable waste collected by the council is incinerated so that the energy implicit in the non-recyclable plastics it contains is realised.
