The Aid For Aidan campaign, launched by the Gazette and Alnwick-based MKM Building Supplies, is gaining momentum by the week.
Major progress has been made at the property of Aidan Jackowiak Smith and his family, since the DIY SOS-themed initiative was launched at the start of July.
The aim of the appeal is to make the Fire Station Cottages house, in Alnwick, suitable for the brave three-year-old, who has Cloves Syndrome.
Both the inside and the outside are undergoing a dramatic change thanks to a number of businesses, tradespeople and residents who have lent a helping hand so far.
This week, Trevor Harding and Mark Tate, from Alnwick, offered their services to plaster the walls.
Yesterday, Gazette gardening correspondent Tom Pattinson was joined by Alnwick firefighters Tom Booth, Alan Gilbertson and John Winter, as well as Aidan’s eight-year-old cousin Jack Milligan, to help clear the back garden. Alnwick-based Jewson Ltd has supplied tools, such as a power strimmer, for the work.
Another session to tackle the back garden takes place on Sunday at 10am. Call James at the Gazette on 01665 602234.
