'˜Rat Pack' tenors search for a choir

The search is on to find a choir to perform on stage with the '˜Rat Pack of Opera' when they perform in Alnwick later this year.

The highly successful trio, Tenors Unlimited, will be on stage at the town’s Playhouse on April 23, with their new production, From Venice to Vegas, as part of their nationwide tour. And they want a north Northumberland choir to join them on stage as part of the show.

For over 10 years, Scott Ciscon, Paul Martin and Jem Sharples have entertained audiences throughout the world.

They have performed alongside such notables as Sting, Lionel Ritchie, Beyoncé, Hayley Westenra, Simply Red and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra to name a few, and now it is a local choir’s turn to join the list.

Jem said: “The choir can be any age group.

“We’d like to encourage school and youth choirs to enter our competition.

“The choir should just love singing, can be one sex or mixed, sing their favourite song or two, and be junior, senior and/or adult – we may choose more than one choir.”

If you are interested in the opportunity and want to be considered, upload a video to YouTube, but set it as private, and email the link to [email protected] so Scott, Jem and Paul can view it.

Tenors Unlimited’s repertoire includes the ever popular classics La Donna E Mobile, The Pearl Fishers Duet and Nessun Dorma, interspersed with crooner and pop favourites, such as Volare, Can’t Take My Eyes Off You and Summertime.

There are also songs written by Tenors Unlimited themselves, which include Senza di Te, a track from their current album The Journey, as well as the title tracks to their previous albums Brand New Day and Viva La Vita.

Alan Titchmarsh OBE described the group as “21st century tenors, great fun, great voices and a great evening”.

The trio sang at the memorial service for football legend and former Newcastle United manager Sir Bobby Robson.

Jem added: “We perform a wide repertoire of all music so there is sure to be something for everyone.”
