Rare visitor flies into Northumberland
Nature lovers were in for a surprise yesterday, when a glossy ibis '“ a rare visitor to the UK '“ was spotted at Druridge Pools, which lies within two miles of Cresswell village.
The picture was snapped by Northumberland Wildlife Trust (NWT) blogger, James Common.
A NWT spokeswoman said: “The glossy ibis is classed as a rare summer migrant and it’s definitely off track. Looks like its birdy sat-nav has gone dodgy.”
