The RAF Association's Wings Breaks hotels, including Rothbury House, have retained their good ratings following their Care Quality Commission inspections.

The hotels allow any member of the RAF family a chance for a break with like-minded people in beautiful locations.

The three hotels are inspected because around a third of their rooms are set up and staffed for guests who have a range of specific care or health needs.

For more, visit www.rafa.org.uk/wingsbreaksInspection visits checked how safe, effective, caring, responsive, and well-led each hotel is. All three – the other two are in Weston-super-Mare in Somerset and at Lytham St Annes in Lancashire – were found to have well-established staff who were skilled at making new relationships with people as well as being kind and caring and respectful of people’s privacy. Management, procedures and care was good and guests and staff had no complaints.

Mark Shields, head of care and housing services, said: “Many Wings Breaks hotel employees have received long-service recognition – bucking the national trend for staff retention in care establishments. We are proud of that and believe it reflects in our CQC ratings.

“As well as their lovely locations, the hotels all arrange many day trips, visits and events throughout the year for all our guests. This summer the Red Arrows pilots visited guests at Richard Peck House. Flowerdown House has performances from the RAF Association Band throughout the year and Rothbury House celebrates at local street fairs as well as Remembrance, New Year and Burn’s Night.”
