The RAF has said that comments relating to the sell-off of its homes in Longhoughton are ‘unfounded’.

In a recent article, Village housing scheme unveiled, about the Northumberland Estates’ proposals for 60 homes in the village, a resident was quoted, questioning the need for new properties in the village.

An RAF spokeswoman said: “In this article, a resident states that ‘the RAF is also looking to empty more houses in the village, so why would we need any more new ones built?’ This comment is unfounded.

“While it would not be appropriate for us to comment or participate in any debate regarding any local house-building and development, we can confirm that there are no plans to reduce MoD housing stock in Longhoughton.”
