They have appointed Fleurets, who are offering the freehold to the market, with an asking price of offers around £450,000.

Trading accounts for the year ending February 2018 confirm sales of £446,748 net of VAT, on which there are strong profits.

There are six contemporary furnished en-suite letting bedrooms and public facilities include a smart reception bar and restaurant comprising two adjoining rooms, seating up to a maximum of around 60 people.

Nick Thomas of Fleurets, who is handling the sale, said: “Garry and Joanne Greenaway have developed a very successful and profitable business at the Queens Head Hotel, which benefits from a broad base of trade.

“Due to the close proximity to Lindisfarne as well as Alnwick and Bamburgh castles, the business has benefited from regular and repeat custom. The area is also particularly popular with walkers, cyclists and golfers as well as those fishing on the Tweed.”

The Grade II building dates back to the 1700s,

It was originally two coaching inns, The Nags Head and The Old Nags Head; both of which were used as stopping places for pilgrims travelling to close by Lindisfarne. In the 1950s the two properties were combined, creating the Queens Head Hotel.
