The purple poppy fields near Lowick have caused quite a stir – including among our Facebook followers.
The brief but glorious display was captured by David Sanderson, who posted his photo to our Facebook page.
It became the most popular picture post of the week, with 266 likes.
Every day at facebook.com/nlandgazette, we share your images of the county under the banner, View of Northumberland. Then each week in the Gazette, we feature the four which received the most likes the previous week.
Not far behind David’s top shot was a glorious photo of Alnwick Castle reflected perfectly in the River Aln. It was taken by Kevin Temple and attracted 195 likes.
In third place, with 113 likes, was a cloudy sunset over Warkworth, caught on camera by Judith Hardisty.
Fourth place went to a lovely view across the River Wansbeck to the Telford Bridge, Chantry and St George’s Church in Morpeth, by Derek Taylor, with 87 likes.
