Hipsburn First School did a wheel-y good job of getting involved in Bike Week recently.

They were encouraged to cycle to school, with the incentive being a biker’s breakfast, and all the pupils’ bikes were given a health check by Adam Bell from Coquet Cycles.

Adjustments were made to brakes and gears, punctures were repaired and parents were informed of anything requiring more attention.

The week-long event, spearheaded by Reception teacher Jo Oates, was a success, encouraging more than 70 pupils to get involved.

Adam said: “In all the years I’ve delivered these activities, I have never had such a large proportion of kids cycling in.”
