Pupils book a place at writing workshop

Students from St Mary's Middle School in Belford got some expert help with their writing skills, thanks to a visiting author.

They joined pupils from Tweedmouth and Berwick middle schools for a creative writing workshop with award-winning author Stuart Reid.

Stuart visited Berwick Middle School last week where he took assembly before leading the workshops with Year 6 and 7 pupils.

His first book, Gorgeous George and the Giant Geriatric Generator, won the Silver Medal at the Forward National Literature Awards.

His next three books were written to inspire children to read for pleasure and his fifth, Gorgeous George and the Pink Poo Power Pump, was launched at the Edinburgh Festival.
