Public invited to NHS annual meeting in Northumberland

Members of the public are invited to attend the NHS Northumberland Clinical Commissioning Group's (CCG) annual public meeting next week.

The meeting will be held on Wednesday at 11am in The Great Hall at Hexham Abbey (NE46 3NB).

The CCG is responsible for the planning and purchasing of Northumberland’s healthcare. It is a GP-led organisation and all 44 practices within Northumberland are members of the CCG, serving a population of more than 300,000 patients.

The meeting is an opportunity for local people to find out how the NHS has performed in the past year and how it plans to meet the needs of local communities in the future. There will also be an opportunity for members of the public to ask questions of the CCG’s Governing Body.

Dr Alistair Blair, chief clinical officer for the CCG, said: “The annual public meeting will give the public the opportunity to find out more about their local CCG. We will reflect on the progress and achievements we have made in 2015/16 and present our annual report and accounts.

“It will also be an opportunity to discuss the challenges we face in 2016/17 and find out more about our plans to develop an Accountable Care Organisation.

“The work that we do affects local people and we want to give them every opportunity to shape the way we make our decisions. I hope that as many local people as possible will be able to attend to hear more about what we are doing.”
