Flea pupae can remain dormant for up to two years, just waiting for a pet to walk past. A flea can jump up to 150 times its height. If you could do this you’d be able to leap over skyscrapers. Only 5 per cent of a flea population is on the animal, the rest is in the environment.

Fleas can live for 100 days, but produce 400-500 offspring.

Ticks are arachnids and more closely related to spiders and scorpions than insects.

Ticks can pick up diseases, such as Lyme Disease, during feeding and pass them onto their hosts.

But it’s not all bad news there is a new treatment to protect your dog – SIMPARICA is a tasty chew for dogs that delivers new advances in flea, tick and mite control.

We believe this is currently the best product we can offer to give protection because it is the only product indicated to kill 99 per cent of ticks in the UK. It provides a fast speed of kill for fleas, eight hours, and ticks, 12 hours, resulting in prevention of environmental contamination by flea eggs, and killing ticks quickly to help reduce the risk of tick-borne disease transmission.
