Proposal for parking permits in problem street

Consultation has started on introducing a parking scheme for residents on a Seahouses street, which has long been the source of complaints.

Those living on James Street, as well as Kippy Law, are being asked for their views on a proposed residents’ permit parking zone with time-limited waiting – Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm.

If introduced, it would allow residents with a permit to park there the whole time, allow visitors to park for a maximum of one hour between 8am and 6pm on weekdays, allow households with multiple vehicles or visitors to park without additional permits between 6pm and 8am, Monday to Friday, and prevent non-residents from parking for extended periods of time.

The issues have long been a bone of contention and while parking is a concern in many parts of Seahouses, James Street is a key route as it is used by the school buses and provides access to the medical centre for ambulances.
