Proposal to build seven self-build plots

Proposals for seven self-build plots on the periphery of a north Northumberland village have been submitted to the county council.

The application site is to the east of the former Mason’s Arms pub in Stamford, which, along with other redundant buildings to the north, has been converted into five homes.

The vacant field, described as Black Rock Forge upper site, is bounded to the south and the east by the B1340 and is on the periphery of Rennington village.

The application for the outline bid says: ‘The self-build plots have been located to make best use of the site and to provide clear definition between ownership.

‘Care has been taken to ensure that the easement running through the site for the water main has been respected and that the vision splay for the vehicles has been retained around the corner.

‘Parking is to be within each plot ownership. Refuse is to be located at the south-west of the site adjacent to the entrance to allow easy access for the refuse vehicle.

‘Access to the dwellings will be via one central road with the plot purchasers being able to create their own private dwelling access.’

However, a previous application for nine homes on the site – five three-bedroom and four two-bedroom properties – was refused in June last year.

The new scheme has already sparked one objection from a neighbour, who points out that the reasons for refusal should remain the same.
