A group of children from St Michael’s CofE Primary School in Alnwick have been awarded the prestigious Blue Peter Sports Badge 2016.
This is a special badge to promote the year of sport and the Olympics.
Within the school’s ongoing sports promotion work in school, they set a challenge to the children in the summer term to try to achieve their badges.
The pupils had to inspire someone else to take up a sport and provide a photo of them both doing it.
Headteacher Gavin Johnston said: “As an added bonus it works like any other Blue Peter badge – giving free entry into many attractions around the country. Huge congratulations to everyone who took part. We really are proud of you all.”
In August, we reported that the school has also been awarded the bronze School Games Award, showing its commitment to high-quality PE and sport – the first in Alnwick to achieve this.
