The probation service in Alnwick is relocating to new premises in the town, as part of a strategy to better support its rehabilitation work.
The Gazette contacted the Northumbria Community Rehabilitation Company this week to ask what the future held for the service in the town, after a for sale sign went up at its premises on Bondgate Without.
The firm responded by saying that it is looking to move away from its current premises, but intends to keep a presence in the area.
It could not disclose any details, at present, about the new site, but said it would remain at Bondgate Without prior to the move.
In a statement to the Gazette, Northumbria Community Rehabilitation Company director, Dave Gardiner, said: “Northumbria Community Rehabilitation Company is moving out of its existing office into a new location in Alnwick.
“Details of our new premises have yet to be finalised, but we will inform users of our services, and the other organisations we work with, about the move as soon as we can.
“In the meantime, we will continue to use the office at Bondgate Without.
“This move is part of our new estates strategy to offer a more welcoming, open-plan environment to support our rehabilitation work.
“It also complements our move to new IT systems, which enable staff to provide a more flexible and mobile service in the communities where we work.”
The premises – number 27 Bondgate Without – is being marketed by GVA, which describes it as a ‘rare freehold opportunity’ for interested parties and offers over the price are being invited.
