The owners of Hedgeley Hall, at Powburn, will be giving the public access to their stunning grounds on Sunday, June 5, from 2pm to 5pm, in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.

Hedgeley Hall dates back to the 17th century and has many different elements to its garden.

The rhododendron walk, with its towering Himalayan rhododendrons, is through woodland planted with species trees, including a famous Wellingtonia, which was brought as a seedling in a flowerpot from Edinburgh Botanic Garden in 1854.

Nearer the house are the heath and paved gardens, and the rose and traditional herbaceous border.

Dogs on leads are welcome to join their owners at the gardens.

Homemade teas will also be on offer for visitors and there will be a cake stall in aid of Branton First School.

There will also be a plant sale.

Entry is £5, children and dogs go free.
