AN African prince is to visit Whittingham next month as part of plans to link up with his country.
Prince Seesio of Lesotho (the King’s brother and High Commissioner) will visit the scout group to help launch a link with his country, and expedition scouts will be going on next summer.
The main aim for the Scouts in Lesotho will be to plant trees as part of the Trees4Africa project.
Lesotho suffers from deforestation problems and Whittingham Scout group is working with a charity which helps by providing clean-burning, efficient stoves.
They reduce the smoke-related illnesses from which people currently suffer, as well as burning less fuel. A reception will be held for the prince when he arrives on October 6, with events the next day.
