Prince Charles to arrive in Northumberland later today

Details of Prince Charles’ intinerary in north Northumberland today have been released.

Following his arrival at Alnmouth by Tornado steam train, the Prince of Wales is in Warkworth at 2pm.

As patron, of Abbeyfield, he will meet residents and staff during a visit to Abbeyfield House in Dial Place.

Residents wishing to welcome the Prince are advised to stand in Dial Place.

He will also meet Diamond Jubilee Champion nominees outside. These are people who have been put forward for their voluntary work over a long period of time.

At 2.50pm, he goes to Amble to meet volunteers and local artists at the Pride of Northumbria Community Shop, on Queen Street, and meet community groups, young performers and local fishermen.

The best place to welcome the Prince to the town will be in Market Square.

At 3.30pm, the Prince will meet local blacksmith Stephen Lunn and view examples of his work during a visit to The Forge in Red Row.

The Prince will stay overnight at Alnwick Castle as a guest of the Duke and Duchess of Northumberland.

On Tuesday, he will visit Holy Island, Bamburgh, Seahouses, Low Newton and Alnwick. Details will appear here as they become available.
