A portrait of the past in village
This picture (top and zoomed in on the bottom) was given to the Gazette for publication by Ann Punton. Ann was given the picture by her mother and father-in-law, who lived in Warkworth and acquired the photograph.
It was taken by Dr Waters in 1892, who at the time was a surgeon in Sunderland, but lived in Warkworth, and is believed to have been an amateur photographer. The bottom picture shows horses and carts along the streets.
