D P Builders is seeking to build 12 new bungalows on a greenfield site to the south of the Southmead Estate.

A planning application was first submitted last March but the proposed access road has been moved north to avoid conflict with access to the planned 272 house Persimmon estate across the road.

The proposed development is for seven bungalows and five dormer bungalows.

A planning statement accompanying the application reports: ‘The Local Plan identifies the site as being within a ‘whiteland’ area within the defined settlement boundary for Amble.

‘The land is not allocated for any particular use; does not form part of any sensitive land designations; and lies outside of any designated conservation areas.

‘It is clear that the site’s position in Amble makes it a sustainable location for development.’
