The meeting between Wooler Parish Council and play equipment provider, Playdale, was designed to give councillors a rough idea of the possible costs involved.

The council is particularly keen to provide disabled play equipment.

An approach will also be made to several other play equipment providers to seek quotes and further details.

Coun Mark Mather, chairman, said: “The park is in fairly good nick. We need to do some groundworks but the infrastructure is there so it might not be as much as we thought.”

He suggested that user groups, including Wooler First School, should be consulted.

“We need to do it better because we don’t want this happening again,” said Coun Mather.
