The shop has been vacant since the business 42 Queen Street closed at the end of last year when Ann Burke, also chairman of Amble Business Club, and Richard Wardman retired.

Richard bought Jean Furness Florist in 1989, a business Ann had worked in for eight years, and it later became The Flower Centre in 1999.

The name changed to 42 Queen Street in 2011 when the pair sold the floristry side of the business and the focus switched to cards and gifts.

Amble is also home to Grayscale Tattoo Studio, launched in June 2014 by Mark Gray and located on Wellwood Street.
