Plans for an animal petting barn to the south/east of the existing site at a visitor attraction near Morpeth have been lodged with Northumberland County Council.

The application to erect an asymmetrical steel portal framed building has been submitted by Whitehouse Farm Centre.

A design and access statement includes the following: “The building is sufficiently sized for the intended use for the animal petting use for the existing business.

“The existing access from the west and south yard areas are deemed to be sufficient for the purpose of this development, with no anticipated increase in vehicular or pedestrian activity.”

Meanwhile, the council has approved two applications by the centre that were submitted in December.

They were as follows – demolition of existing kiosk shed and construction of new single storey entrance kiosk; and a single storey extension to the cafe.
