The proposed scheme, which will require a new access off the B6345 Acklington Road, comprises 185 new dwellings with private gardens and seven apartments with shared gardens.

There will be eight one-bed bungalows (all affordable rent), 13 one-bed apartments (all affordable rent), 31 two-bed houses (four shared ownership), 86 three-bed houses (three shared ownership) and 47 four-bed houses.

There were no objections from local residents or statutory consultees.

James Bellis, senior planning officer, reported: “The west end of Amble has been a point of growth historically; through housing estates at Robsons Way and incremental development at Gloster Park approved in 1995 and the late 1980s/early 1990s respectively.

“The proposal includes a large mix of dwellings types, houses, apartments, affordable and market homes, family houses/apartments and smaller apartments for smaller households; and is therefore deemed to be in conformity with relevant policy and guidance and other relevant material considerations.”

“The proposed new dwellings are fairly standard types with supporting information highlighting these would incorporate the use of red coloured brick, render, art stone detailing and slate.

"The general layout, scale and appearance of development is considered to be acceptable in this location and would not result in significant or adverse impacts upon the character and appearance of the site and surrounding area, other than those established through the outline permission and the principle of changing the site’s character, via the introduction of new development.”

More than 900 homes across three other development sites have already been given the go ahead.
